Elementary Parade Participation Information

Elementary Parade Participation Information The Calhan High School Student Council would like to take this time to invite each and every student of Calhan Elementary School to participate in the Homecoming parade on Saturday October 6th. Students wishing to participate must arrive by 9:15am near the EPCA building/ Baseball Fields (780 8th street). Students do not need to pre-register for participation and MUST be accompanied by an adult. The parade will end at the school. Option 1: Students have the chance to compete for cash prizes in the categories of walking in costume or riding decorated bicycles. Judging for prizes will be by grade and grades may be combined on the day of the parade if participation in the category is below 4 students. Judging will begin promptly at 9:30 am Participants will be judged based on creativity and use of this year’s theme of Habitats of the World Winners will be announced and prizes will be given in school on October 9th. Option 2: Students wishing to participate in another way for the parade will not be eligible for prizes, must be accompanied by an adult, and must contract Mrs. Newton at the high school (Room 302) by 10 am on Thurs. PSAT/NMSQT Testing

PSAT/NMSQT testing will be offered at Calhan High School on October 10, 2018 for interested juniors and seniors. This test is a great practice test for the upcoming SAT and has the potential of earning students national merit scholarships for college. The cost is $16. Tests are limited so please contact Ms. Taylor ASAP in counseling if you are interested or for more detailed information.

Elks 2019 Most Valuable Student Scholarship Contest

The Elks National Foundation will award $2.44 million dollars in college scholarships to 500 high school seniors nationwide through its Most Valuable Student (MVS) scholarship contest. Sixteen scholarships will be awarded to students in Colorado. The deadline is November 15, 2018. Application information can found on the scholarship board in the main hall or at enf.elks.org/mvs.
