Meet the Band Director
Casey Gerczynski is a classically trained saxophonist who graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelors in Music Education K-12. She started her music career at an early age by taking piano lessons and learning guitar from her father. Gerczynski began pursuing saxophone throughout middle school and high school with guidance from Rob Barbre, Eric Bernhardt, and Dr. Christian Noon.
During her time at UNC, Gerczynski was mentored by Mark Pipes, Andy Kropp, and UNC saxophone professor Dr. Andrew Dahlke. Gerczynski also got the opportunity to work with note-worthy education professors like Dr. Richard Mayne, Dr. Kenneth "Doc" Singleton, Dr. Lindsay Fulcher, and Dr. Mark Montemayor. Gerczynski performed in UNC Symphonic Band, UNC Lab V and IV, and multiple chamber and jazz groups. She marched in UNC’s Pride of the Rockies Marching band for five years and was the baritone section leader during her last season.
Gerczynski student-taught with Kathy Azari at Brentwood Middle School and with Orlando Otis at Legend High School. This is her third year at Calhan Schools.
Gerczynski continues to play her saxophone after college in various gigs. She has performed in many venues such as the Marquis Theater in Denver and the Moxi Theater in Greeley.
