Lock out 10/18

To the Calhan School Community:

The El Paso County Sheriff's Department notified Calhan School District of the possibility of police activity in the area today (10/18) at 9:15 AM and the District immediately initiated a precautionary “Lock Out”. The procedure calls for a secure exterior perimeter but allows for classes and activities to continue to operate within the building. 32 minutes later at 9:47 AM, as communication of the “Lock Out” was being arranged, the Sheriff's office notified the district that there was no longer a threat to the area and we were able to lift the "Lock Out" status. Once again, please understand that the “Lock Out” was completely precautionary. At no time were students, staff, faculty, or visitors at risk or in danger. Please call 719-347-2766 or e-mail through the website: if you have any further questions.
